The computer received was an Optiplex 5050 vice the 5040 in the description. However, the 5050 is virtual, if not identical to the 5040 so no problem here. It was fairly up-to-date on the software. While no CD/DVD was installed, they did send an external USB CD/DVD reader/writer...a great bonus and perfectly suitable for my needs. The keyboard was a generic one, not Dell, but in my usage, I have sufficient Dell and Microsoft keyboards so no problem here. My specific computer, it had the optional VGA support although I'm just using the two DP ports for my dual display. Another very important fact...the seller is an Authorized Microsoft Refurbisher - in my experience, this is a higher quality product than just a Renewal product
As for the device itself, it was immaculate. Absolutely no signs of any wear, nor any signs of dust. The operating system came on a 2.5" SSD as described in the item description; and no problem with digital license activation. There is plenty of room for storage expansion since there are cables for two SATA devices, and space & clip for an M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD.
The operating system, Windows 10pro 20H2, was fairly current although the partition configuration didn't provide for UEFI boot capability, only legacy booting. I believe there are ways to add UEFI boot capability but that will require further experimentation. Preparing this device for Windows 11 in the future will require a little effort (e.g. UEFI booting) but the machine is fully capable of supporting Windows 11 - including TPM, storage, processor speed, etc.
Bottom line - excellent value, outstanding condition, robust options, and good future flexibility.

I work on a Dell at work so when I needed a new PC at home, I wanted a Dell. I was honestly VERY reluctant to purchase a refurbished PC from AMAZON because you just never know what you are going to get! So before I purchased, I read the reviews of the seller, then I sent the link to my IT friends at the job to ask what they thought of it. They recommended it so I took a chance, knowing that I can return it. Well, after it arrived, I hooked it up at home, downloaded everything and as with most PCs, it needed updating so I let it run it course - this happened 2 or 3 times from when I set it up Friday night to Sunday evening.
I've used it and it's fast just like I needed. I have NO ISSUES so far! It even came with a complimentary keyboard, but I have several. It has windows 10 and is already letting me know that Windows 11 is on the way.

I had already written a review, but I've now purchased a lot of these, so I feel like I can speak a little more confidently about them, and I've also had some experience with issues and returns now, and have been EXTREMELY happy with how the seller has handled everything.
I'm the IT Director for a medium-size church, and I oversee somewhere around 50 machines, so I spent a while looking for the best replacements for our old ones, which we bought new, but are now all at the 9-year mark, so we're obviously having issues.
My latest batch was 4 machines. 3 worked flawlessly. I absolutely LOVE these machines. So fast, they can handle anything you throw at them. We've even had users running Adobe Creative Cloud apps without issue.
The one bad one seems to have had an issue with the SSD, but one call to customer service (which picked up immediately with no phone tree), and they jumped straight to offering to send out a new drive expedited. I was pleasantly surprised. I'll update this if the drive ends up not fixing the problem, but I'm fairly confident that it will.
I almost dropped this to 4 stars, but I feel like we all know it's risky to go refurb, and we expect issues, but these have been amazing. For me, there's no question about it - this is where I'm buying any future computers! The Optiplex 5040 and Latitude 5470 seem to hit the "sweet spot" for refurbished machines. Amazing price point, dependable, fast - just great overall machines and we're only paying about 1/3 of what we'd be paying for new ones. With a 90+% success rate, and quick replacements for any defective machines or parts, you can't go wrong! 5 stars are well deserved.
